In this workshop, you will gather tools and skills to support, enhance and impact your yoga practice, and improve your movement in daily living. We will discuss the differences between actions like push, pull, yield, and reach and how they apply to yoga postures and movement patterns. You will have fun flowing through familiar and new yoga postures. This workshop explores simple tools that you can use both on and off the mat.

PRESENTER BIO:
Juan has a degree in Contemporary Dance from Simon Fraser University and has worked professionally as an independent Dance Artist for the last ten years. He has completed additional certifications in Restorative, Yin, Pilates and Aerial Yoga. Currently, he is completing Body-Mind Centering’s Somatic Movement Education program in Oregon under the direction of Amy Matthews and Georg Feuerstein’s, 800 HRS Traditional Yoga Studies program.

Have you ever thought of the movement that underlies all movement in ourselves? Somatic movement educator Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen discovered that what underlies all movement is vibration. During Cohen’s years of developing her work, she came to the conclusion that vibration is the first pattern of movement that we develop.
Even before we develop into embryos, when we are only individual single cells, vibration is already there. If you think about it, cells are structures made up of billions of molecules, and each molecule is composed of atoms. Atoms are constantly moving and vibrating, thus creating everything that we can see and touch from planets to the tiniest of the cells.
However, if it underlies movement then how come some people don’t feel it? perhaps the need to build the awareness needed to then be able to feel the underlying vibration that exists in everything.
