Our Latest Online Class: Sneaky Power

This Sneaky Power class was requested by two of our Patreons, Leah and Matheus! The idea behind this class is that slowly and steadily your body starts to warm, muscles begin to awaken and energy starts to flow!

Our Latest Online Class: Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra is a deep guided meditation for creating a sense of relaxation and calm. It is sometimes explained as an “awake sleep state”. The focus on the body and breath helps the mind to begin to still and offers time for the body to fully relax. Mark loves to do this practice in bed, especially after a stressful day…grab the blankets and cushions and drift into rest!

Our Latest Online Class: Mellow Hatha Yoga

What can we say about this practice?… It’s simply a lovely mellow Hatha class, focusing on creating space in the hips and lower body. There’s no downward dog in this class, so it’s also a great sequence if your wrists and upper body are sore or tender. We have the lovely wind as our accompaniment as Mark guides you through this practice of unwinding.

Compassion, Starting with Yourself

There is great importance in creating compassion for yourself so you can spread that care to others. I find it interesting on flights when during the emergency protocol announcement the flight attendants stress that you need to put your own mask on first before helping anyone with theirs.

Saucha as a Way to Find a Deep Truth Within Yourself

Saucha means purity, clearness of mind, speech and body. Saucha is one of the Niyamas of yoga and Niyamas can be interpreted to mean positive duties and observances. In the book “The Yamas and Niyamas: Exploring Yoga’s Ethical Practice” by Deborah Adele, she goes further with the concept of saucha by saying that we not only need to be pure in thoughts and words but also develop purity in relation to the things that we have no control of. She writes that:

Koshas: Getting to Know Them Through Asana

Koshas are layers or sheaths that help us to move from the physical to the spiritual. There’s that moment at the end of an intense physical and mental practice, it could be running, yoga or chasing your nephews around a park for two hours, where you feel absolutely blissed out and serene. Have you felt that before? While your mind was focused and your physical body was working you managed to move yourself into a state of peace. According to yoga philosophy you have moved through the layers of the Koshas. Much like layers of an onion, the peeling of these layers helps us navigate to the core of who we really are.

Karma Yoga: Acting Out of Love

The principle of karma has been embodied in many ways. The movie Back To The Future II had a deep impact on me as a child. Firstly, I grew up believing that the release of Hover-boards was just around the corner, and secondly that our smallest actions have repercussions that are invisible. The movie demonstrates the Butterfly Effect, the theory that the flap of the wings of a butterfly can cause the formation of a hurricane.
